WE MARCH TO THE BOOTHS!!!

Campaign in Sokoto today. Press conference in Ibadan tomorrow. Rally here. Peace accord there. It's all gone. Gone!!! The hullabaloo has been 'quieted'.

I wanna flex my own muscle about the election. But lemme first bombard you with a collage of pictures. I pray this turns out interesting...

Heys!!! You'all should chill biko. Don't judge an innocent peace-loving Nigerian. I actually stumbled on each of these pictures on our social media. Some twitter. Most on BBM.

As hilarious as they all seemed to be, while some were aimed at 'belching' the laughing gas in us, the bulk of therm were actually sincere genuine passionate expressions of the makers of their heartfelt about the current state of the 'new Nigeria'.

In all of these campaigns with which our ears have been deafened, some have preached change. Some have advocated continuity.

And now, that very short moment of reflection, purgation, projection, expectation....

Nigerians have gotten to the crossroads. We (of course, I'm unapologetically Nigerian) have gotten gotten to that bridge they said we would cross when we got to. That very bridge longer than the 'Third-Mainland'.

Saturday, the 28th of March, 2015. Another general election for the presidential race is slated. PVCs distributed. Franchise decisions made. Electoral materials dispatched. Polling units supervisors assigned. All set. Set for the 'El-classico match' between the two major candidates for the presidential election of 2015... PDP's Dr Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan and APC's General Muhammadu Buhari. One is the lion (I don't know which one is). The other, the wolf. Whether we ll yet be the sheep again. Well, we await the golden voice of the calmest of them all. Professor Attahiru Jega!

The candidates. They each have their individual achievements. They sure have their individual screw-ups.
They each have been Nigerian head of state. They each have contested the same election before now. But their supporters? two poles apart!

Just as we have die-hard 'Buhari supporters', the unrepentant Jonathanians will never believe their flagbearer has his incumbent seat to give away. Well, except he is Santa. (I have actually searched the History books in vain to ever stumble on a name of aaaaany head of state that ever resigned from the presidency seat for any reason whatsoever. None. Nigerian syndrome, shey?!?

Lemme not prevaricate.

My mission here is simple.

Let us put all considerations on the table. This decision is not ever ever for our own personal selfish egoistic aggrandisement. Or better put, it shouldn't be. We owe it all to posterity! Children unborn.

Inasmuch as I am a Nigerian too, it is not mine to judge. But let us not forget...

Let us forget the nationwide Nigerian Labour Congress strike that crippled meaningful national activities for one full calender month in 2013. I m sure we've not forgotten the words 'fuel subsidy, palliatives, SURE P, cabal'. I leave all the words to  your definitions.

How about the over three months ASUU strike that paralysed our education sector and bestowed it a wheel-chair?!?!

Let us not forget....

Let us not forget, too, the War Against Indiscipline (WAI) and what exactly it sought to achieve (I leave this to the senior citizens).

How about the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) saga???

Have you verified your History books to come up with the true fact as to who exactly killed Dele Giwa?!? Have you???

How about the first woman who was put before a firing squad?

Let us not be quick to forget...

Let us not be swayed by unnecessary sentiments, propaganda, political demagoguery and half-truths.

Let us all rise with the Sun on Saturday and make history!

You own your franchise. I own mine.

Go vote your conscience.

Not for your sake. Never.

For posterity!!!

God bless the 1914-born.

God bless Nigeria.
